Smart Salting for Local Leaders on Monday, Aug. 1

Smart Salting for Local Leaders Workshop | August 1, 9 am – 11 am | Virtual, Free

Minnesota policy makers have an important role to play in making chloride reduction decisions that protect Minnesota’s valuable water resources.

With We Are Water MN and the Alexandria Lakes Area Sanitary District, The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is offering a free, virtual 2-hour Smart Salting for Local Leaders workshop for people in the Alexandria area and throughout Minnesota. Register here.

Smart salting strategies can help reduce chloride pollution while saving money and maintaining safe conditions for winter transit. In this workshop, local leaders can learn about the statewide impacts of chloride and specific action steps to make policy changes in their communities to reduce salt use.

MPCA’s Smart Salting for Local Leaders is considered an introductory workshop and is not intended as a replacement for the MPCA’s Property Management, Roads, or Parking Lot and Sidewalks Certification Trainings and does not meet MS4 training requirements.
